Anison Performers

Those voices you heard on TV, on records, on CDs and DVDs, singing anime songs through the decades...each one came from a person.

Some of those people are no longer here. Some retired, or turned their attention to raising a family, or supplemented their singing with an unrelated career that eventually took precedence. Some went to a world of their own, purchasing their own restaurant or pub with a stage to perform for their patrons. And some sang on in other genres, or stepped back from the limelight to focus on songwriting, or play in a band, sing chorus, serve as session musician, or become a producer.

But thanks to retro anime song concerts taking off in the late '90s, there are several showcases a year reuniting performers with appreciative crowds. The slogan of pioneer event Robonation '97 sums up the excitement perfectly: "Mite! Kike! Hon-mono da!" ("Watch! Listen! It's really them!")

Here are two lists of performers: those who have performed at retro anime song events in the past decade and could appear again (with bios, photos, song lists, and links to official sites gradually being added), and those who it's unfortunately too late to see now.
